Buy Local! Support Local Merchants! Save Money!

You are a part of the greater Blacksburg community as a graduate student on the Blacksburg campus. You shop for food, services, and goods on a budget that never seems to go far enough. We, the GSA know it can be hard to make the dollar stretch far enough. To that end, we have been working with local merchants to create opportunities for all of us to succeed.

The Buy Blacksburg Initiative brings discounts and deals from local merchants to our graduate community. To take advantage of them, stop by the GLC during business hours (the main desk upstairs) and ask for your GSA member sticker, which you can then place on your HokieP to show to our participating merchants. Each is offering a special deal to our graduate students, and we will continue to work to expand the variety and number of vendors participating in this program. 

Participating vendors and their deals:

  • Hethwood Market is offering 15% off and a special Grad Student Breakfast Sandwich at their Saturday morning farmers market. Saturdays from 8:00am to noon.
  • Blacksburg Farmers Market is offering $4 off token and 10% merchandise discounts.
  • Glade Road Growing is offering 15% off online orders, with the code vtgrad15.
